Fourth Buenos Aires Metaethics Workshop
August 8 to 12, 2011
We are pleased to announce the fourth installment of the Buenos Aires Metaethics Workshop. The Workshop is a space for philosophers from different countries who work in ethics and their relation with metaphysics, epistemology, etc to meet and discuss their work in an intimate and informal setting. The workshop offers a unique opportunity in providing a great degree of time and focused attention to the presentation of each participant devoting an entire session to one single presentation and its subsequent discussion.
The purpose of the workshop is to provide a laboratory for the development and articulation of new directions in metaethics, as well as space for participants working within a variety of philosophical traditions and areas to discuss common issues. Rather than read prepared papers, participants are encouraged to “workshop” their positions and arguments in a colloquial manner so as to facilitate discussion and develop ideas.
Ethical Constructivism, which is the topic of this year’s workshop, is intended to attract scholars working on the epistemology and metaphysics of ethics. However, we encourage participants to submit work on areas encompassing philosophy of law, political philosophy, aesthetics and moral psychology.
Submission: Abstracts must not exceed 400 words and must be submitted in electronic form to
[email protected] before the 15th of April, 2011.
While the workshop is closed to the public we extend the invitation to professional academic philosophers to attend the sessions. For further information and to inquire about available places email:
