I am pleased to report that the 2013 Gregory Kavka Prize in political philosophy goes to Are We Violating the Human Rights of the World’s Poor? by Thomas Pogge. I studied with Kavka at UCLA (before he moved to UC Irvine). He was a key figure in my intellectual development, taught brilliantly, and is still much missed by his family, colleagues, and many friends.
