This is a short, preliminary response to Professor Alice Ristroph's review of my book, A Pattern of Violence: How the Law Classifies Crimes and What It Means for Justice (Harvard University Press, 2021).
I have no judgment about either the review or Sklansky's response. I admire both scholars.
