With the rapid advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) Technology, it is unsurprising that it has gained momentum and has now found itself with a part to play in creative and inventive tasks that generate innovation and invention. Therefore, questions have sparked a debate on its relationship with patent law, specifically on the question of AI-Inventorship. Henceforth, this paper will first seek to understand the debate on AI-inventorship, following which it will consider the challenges that face the patent framework of today and its difficulties in adapting to a new era of technology. Next, the paper will consider views and proposals on the way forward. Lastly, considerations of economic and social impact are taken into account to argue the importance of reforming and strengthing the patent system to help foster a new generation of innovation into the patent framework.
