Martin Loughlin (London School of Economics - Law School) has posted Constitutionalism Revived on SSRN. Here is the abstract:
The growing use of the term 'constitutionalism' over the last couple of decades is little short of astonishing. It is not just the increasing number of publications on the topic that surprises; it is also the apparent promiscuity of its usage. For contemporary writers, constitutionalism evidently carries a positive connotation, but it is now employed as a capacious term under whose rubric a wide variety of disparate governing practices might be gathered. This paper examines this development, explains its significance and assesses its consequences.
Highly recommended.
